Hi. I’m Laura Stearn, aka, NWBCC Office Administrator. For quite some time (a couple decades?) I have had a series of “blogs” in mind. Although, that long ago we didn’t even know to call them that. I thought of them more as Bible lessons, or even simply as chats about areas of life important to a Christian woman. And they each center around one of the classic scripture passages written directly to (or about) women/wives, like: Titus 2:3-4, Proverbs 31, I Peter 3:1-6, I Timothy 2:8-15, etc.
Well, now blogs have been invented, and I would love to share with you things I have gleaned over the years. I write to you from the vantage points of being over 70 (really? already? – I’ve never been that old before!), from having been married for 30 years, being a widow for over 20 years, raising 5 children, being Gramma to 12 grands (and counting! 😀 ), being a mentor, and from having the privilege of working here at NWBCC for over 12 years.
Launching: I Peter 3:1-6
Perhaps it’s because of that last vantage point, of working in a counseling office, that most of my focus of late has been on the passage in I Peter 3:1-6. In this passage, every Christian wife is called and encouraged in how to live when her husband is not living in obedience to the Word. There has not been a week in these last 12+ years that I have not talked to some wife (or several wives) about this. I know the need is great.
And so, we are going to launch a series of blogs on I Peter 3:1-6. My goal is to write every other week. (Disclaimer here: it’s a goal. And I am trusting you are full of grace! 😀 ) We will go through the passage verse by verse, concept by concept, and sometimes even word by word. Based on the material I have been collecting, my guess is that this blog series will take around a year and a half. (Shocking thought!) A lot may seem elementary, but I have found it helpful to dig deep into the basics – “There’s gold in them thar hills!”
